Departmental Overview :
The department of Rheumatology deals with multi-systemic diseases related to autoimmunity, in which the body’s immune system acts against the body’s different organs or organ systems. There is a huge list of autoimmune disorders, out of which the common diseases include rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, Sjogren’s syndrome, systemic sclerosis, vasculitis, and others. Besides, it also deals with other forms of metabolic and degenerative arthritis such as gout and osteoarthritis. The department has both out-patient (Mondays and Thursdays) and in-patient services (35 beds). Currently the in-patient Rheumatology ward is functioning in the Old Medicine Block. The department has applied for DNB accreditation for the session 2020-21.
