The School of Service at the World Skill Centre (WSC) is dedicated to providing specialized training in high-demand service sectors. Recognizing the global demand for skilled professionals in service-oriented fields, WSC’s School of Service combines cutting-edge facilities, hands-on training, and industry-focused curricula to ensure that students are prepared to excel in both domestic and international markets. Here’s a detailed overview of the school’s offerings, objectives, and training facilities. School of Services comprises of 03 courses -

The School of Service aims to cultivate a highly skilled workforce that can meet the exacting standards of the global service industry. Its objectives include:

  1. Empowering students with industry-relevant skills to enhance employability in various service sectors, including beauty and wellness, hospitality, retail, and beyond.
  2. Fostering a culture of professionalism and excellence by emphasizing customer service, communication skills, and attention to detail.
  3. Equipping students with entrepreneurial skills for those aspiring to start their own service-oriented businesses.

World Skill Center (WSC), Bhubaneswar has partnered with TATA Strive to establish the School of Hospitality, offering specialized training in Culinary Science, Food and Beverage Services, Housekeeping Services, and Front Office Operations. This state-of-the-art facility, housed at Kaushal Bhawan, features a Quantity Kitchen and an Advanced Kitchen and was inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Minister, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, on 15th July 2024.

The School of Hospitality provides candidates with opportunities to pursue courses aligned with NSQF Level 4 standards, such as Housekeeping Services, Food & Beverage Services, Front Office Executives, and Commis Chef. Practical, hands-on training is at the core of the program, supported by seven advanced laboratories and two cafeterias capable of serving approximately 1,600 students of WSC.

Since its inception, 205 participants have successfully completed the training, with nearly 60% securing employment in prestigious organizations, including the Taj Group, Vivanta, Mayfair Hotels, Swosti Group, and others. The program attracts participants from districts across Odisha, such as Ganjam, Khorda, Puri, Jajpur, and Dhenkanal.

In addition to employment opportunities, trainees have gained paid On-the-Job Training (OJT) opportunities with the Tribal Development Co-operative Corporation of Odisha Limited, contributing to significant state events like the Adivasi Mela and the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention. The School of Hospitality continues to empower youth by equipping them with industry-relevant skills and fostering career opportunities in the dynamic hospitality sector.
