World Skill Centre in association with Mission Shakti Department, has been implementing and fostering key women entrepreneur initiatives in the State. Mission Shakti is the nodal government department for Women Self-Help Groups (WSHGs) to empower women to achieve economic independence through enhancing their access to financial resources, skill development for self-employment and entrepreneurial activities and integrate them into the mainstream economy. The World Skill Centre is a premier advanced skill training institute established to train and
produce globally employable individuals and is the knowledge and skilling partner of Mission Shakti.
The joint initiatives hold great promise in empowering women by providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the entrepreneurial world. Through well designed courses, women will have the opportunity to enhance their capabilities, pursue economic independence, and contribute to the growth of their communities. The collaboration between World Skill Centre and Mission Shakti is poised to make a meaningful impact on the lives of women across the state, fostering a culture of skill development and entrepreneurship.
To encourage women to engage in profitable entrepreneurial activities, WSC along with Mission Shakti has designed short-term courses for women in the trades of Bakery & Patisserie and Hair Care, Pre-Makeup & Nail Care and Fashion Technology. These courses aim to develop a skilled workforce with curricula and training of international standards and help women build sustainable livelihoods and enhance their socio-economic conditions.
The first batch on the short-term course on bakery and patisserie commenced on 11th March 2024 in Mission Shakti Center, at Barabati, Cuttack. The highlight of the course is the integrated bakery unit to facilitate experiential learning in a commercial bakery setting, aimed at enhancing women's entrepreneurial skills

Duration Of The Course :

The Course Includes :
- Basic professional skills - to be trained at WSC-MS Skill Development Centre
- Advance skills - to be trained at WSC-MS Skill Development Centre
- Employability skills - to be trained at WSC
- Industrial exposure to IHM, ITIs, bakery units and other related industry
Assessment and Certification :
Practical based assessment by third-party agencyand co-branding of WSC and Mission Shakti on Certification of Competency (COC).
Ten districts have been selected as training locations: Angul, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kendrapara, Khordha, and Sundara. At these locations training will be conducted at the WSC-MS Skill Development Centre.
A total of 140 Self-Help Group (SHG) members will be trained over a period of 12 months. The World Skill Centre will act as knowledge and skilling partner during this period, while Mission Shakti will handle implementation, branding, and marketing. Additionally, WSC will assist the Bakery Unit operations under the WSC-MS Skill Development Centre as a commercial unit for a year before transferring it to Mission Shakti.
