
About Odisha SKills
Odisha Skills Competition is organised targeting India Skills and consequently World Skills under the ambit of Odisha Skill Development Authority. It is the biggest skill competition to showcase the highest standards of skilling and offers a platform to young people to showcase their talent at national and international levels. It is held in every two years to with support of State Government, NSDC, SSCs, corporates and institute partners to create a remarkable impact from the grassroot level of state skilling ecosystem.
Journey So Far
India Skills 2018
Odisha has participated in a very large scale with 33 competitors in 21 skills in India Skills 2018 and secured second place in the medal tally with 4 golds, 6 silvers, 9 bronzes and 2 medallion of excellences.





World skills 2019- Kazan - Russia
Odisha has always been on the forefront of this Global Skill Competition. Country’s 1st Gold Medal at World Skills Competition was bagged by S. Aswatha Narayana at World Skills KAZAN 2019.
S Aswatha Narayana represented Odisha and won a Gold medal in Water Technology, he competed against 11 countries. He was also rewarded as ‘Best of Nation’ amongst the Indian competitors. Odisha has also got multiple accolades at India Skills competition; a quick snippet is indicated below:
The WorldSkills Competition, a flagship event of the WorldSkills International, organized every two years, is the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event in the world that truly reflects global industry.
Odisha represented India in World Skills Competition 2019 held in Kazan, Russia in 3 skills. S. Ashwathanarayan, Abinash Swain and Xenophone Das have participated from Odisha in Water Technology, CNC Turning and Mechanical CAD skills, respectively. India won its first ever gold medal in Water Technology by S. Ashwathanarayan in Water Technology.






India Skills 2021
In the year 2021, Odisha participated in India Skills Competition in 40 different skills and hit the first position in the medal tally with 10 Golds, 18 Silvers, 10 Bronzes and 13 medallions of excellence.





World skills 2022 special edition
India has participated in 52 Skills with 58 Competitors and 52 Experts. Out of 52 skills, 6 skills were team Skills (2 Competitors) i.e Robot System Integration, Industry 4.0, Security, Mobile Robotics, Mechatronics and Concrete Construction Works. Odisha got the opportunity to represent India in World Skills Competition 2022 special edition in 10 Skills and they are Robot System Integration, Water Technology, CNC Turning, Industry 4.0, M-CAD, Restaurant Services, Cabinet Making, Brick Laying, Concrete Construction Works, Print Media Technology.

Odisha at World Skills Competition – Olympic of Skills
In preparation for WorldSkills 2024 in Lyon, France, the Government of Odisha has established a mission to ensure that participants from the state to excel on the prestigious global platform of skills. They aim to raise the national flag to new heights of achievement. As a part of this endeavour, the Odisha State Skills competition 2024 was conducted in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. More than 700 youth competed in 45 trades across six sectors, including Construction and Building Technology - Creative Arts and Fashion - Information and Communication Technology - Manufacturing and Engineering Technology - Social and Personal Services - Transportation and Logistics.
Winners of Odisha Skills 2024 with OSDA & WSC Dignitaries
The Odisha State Skills Competition serves as a platform to identify, nurture, and showcase the skills of the state's youth. Organized as part of India Skills and World Skills competitions, it provides an opportunity for skilled individuals to compete at the national and international levels. The competition aims to promote excellence in vocational skills, encourage skill development, and raise awareness about the importance of vocational education. Through this initiative, Odisha is fostering a culture of skill development and empowering its youth to excel in various fields, both nationally and globally.
The winners of Odisha Skills 2024 represented the state in India Skills at New Delhi. With a contegent of 64 competitors in 48 skills, Odisha stood 1st in the medal tally all over India with 51 medals in various skills.

The 47th WorldSkills Competition took place from September 10 to September 15, 2024, in Lyon, France. This year, the competition welcomed 1,400 competitors from nearly 70 countries. Participants showcased their skills across a diverse range of disciplines, including technology, craftsmanship, and service industries, reflecting the evolving landscape of global employment.
Out of 51 winners 15 competitors in 14 skills have represented India in World Skills Lyon 2024. Our Odia youths were 25% of the entire India Contingent proudly represented Odisha in global platform.
Our dedication, hard work, and exemplary skills have not only earned us a commendable position in this prestigious competition but have also brought immense pride and honor to our organization.
Our achievement at India Skills 2023-24 serves as a beacon of inspiration for everyone and the future competitors who aspire to follow in our footsteps.
In the forefront, Odisha's Amaresh Kumar Sahu won 1 Bronze medal in Renewal Enegry and Gedela Akhil won Medallion for Excellence in Water Technology.
